Golf champ Rory McIlroy hit into the social media rough after playing golf with  President Donald Trump on Sunday.

McIlroy, who has won four majors and is the World No. 3 , told No Laying Up he accepted an invitation to play  with the president at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, despite recovering from a stress fracture in his rib.

A picture posted Saturday of him on the links with Trump, ClearSports CEO Garry Singer and former New York Yankees star Paul O’Neill made the rounds, but Mclroy told No Laying Up that O’Neill and Singer were not part of the Sunday’s foursome.

McIlroy called the commander-in-chief a “decent player for a guy in his 70s,” but the Internet was not all compliments about the golf star associating with the controversial chief executive. To some Twitter users, McIlroy had dug a hole for himself.

In all fairness, McIlroy did get some support too.
